Press Release
GRAND ISLE Ground was ceremoniously broken today for a $4 million
waterfront development on Grand Isle, the largest such development on
Louisiana’s only inhabited barrier island. When fully developed
and constructed, Amaris Isle Plantation could be a $200 million economic
boost to the area, developer Kirk St. Pierre of Larose said, with $4 to
$6 million in recurring revenues. Construction is expected to be completed
in the spring of 2006.
The 157-lot gated community will be developed on the eastern end of Grand
Isle, adjacent to Bayou Rigaud and Barataria Pass. Each parcel of land
will offer bulkheaded water frontage and easy access to premiere coastal,
marsh and offshore fishing. In addition, the development will feature
tennis courts, a swimming pool, and a private boat launch for residents.
The completion of the waterline to Grand Isle has allowed for a development
such as ours to progress, St. Pierre said. The diligent work of town officials
has alleviated any concerns about sufficient water in the future. We’re
excited about this project. Grand Isle Mayor David Camardelle said, "We're
very pleased that this development is moving ahead on our island., for
it certainly represents an economic boost to our growing area. This investment
is indicative of Grand Isle's attraction as a site for premiere coastal
vacationing andliving."
